Summary Description of Classification: Responsible for providing end-user technical support via phone and face to face interaction. Performs a variety of technical tasks related to the installation, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of all components in the computer terminal network, including distributed processing equipment and related peripherals. This position will be directly responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting large computer and peripheral deployments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answers Help Desk phone in order to provide technical assistance to end-users.
- Utilize remote access software to view user’s desktops in order to troubleshoot and solve issues.
- Utilize trouble ticket software to log and document Help Desk inquiries.
- Submits daily work summaries, including observations and/or reports, to central office management.
- Adds users to Active Directory, Office 365, Safari Montage, and other centralized solutions.
- Unlock/reset passwords on Active Directory accounts.
- Installs, maintains and repairs computer hardware, software and peripherals.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on computers and peripherals as needed.
- Closes trouble tickets by providing detailed information as to how problems were solved.
- Orders, installs and returns warranty parts to manufacturer within guidelines.
- Utilizes and maintains Board-issued equipment and materials in a responsible and reliable manner.
- Assists in evaluation of hardware and software to determine needs, improvements and upgrades.
- Provides troubleshooting assistance to other technical staff members.
- Installs, configures, and maintains workstations, printers, and software applications.
- Monitors use of technology in schools and forward observations to supervisor.
- Maintains workstation anti-virus software and updates on workstations.
- Applies uniform naming conventions for all hardware as outlined by management staff.
- Attends classes, seminars and conferences to enhance knowledge and provide enhanced services.
- Researches new innovations for solving current issues.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) year degree in a computer related field. Three (3) years of formal job experience can be used in lieu of two- year degree.
- Some formal work experience is desired. Military experience a plus.
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
- 239 day contract year; 8 hours per day
- Salary Range: Grade 52, $20.91 - $22.21 an hour (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). Up to ten years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
