Job Summary:
Performs tasks related to the receipt, storage, moving, and handling of food, materials, supplies and equipment for the Central Kitchen facility and operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handles a wide variety of supplies, food, materials and equipment received in the Central Kitchen Warehouse and places them in their correct location; assists in keeping the Warehouse in proper order; assists in taking inventory.
- Receives written purchase orders for janitorial, instructional, food/nutritional and administrative services and selects the materials to fill the purchase orders with extreme accuracy.
- Reads work orders or receives instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Packs and unpacks items to be stocked on shelves in stockroom, freezer, or warehouse.
- Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner.
- Moves freight, stock, food, and/or other materials to and from storage areas, production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, containers by hand or using trucks, forklifts, or other equipment; sorts cargo and material.
- Examines and inspects stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Makes deliveries to all CK locations in a fast, accurate and efficient manner.
- Operates all warehouse equipment including small hand tools, hand trucks, pallet jacks and heavy equipment such as electric or gas powered fork lifts and delivery vehicles.
- Performs simple and routine maintenance tasks (such as checking the oil, water, gas, battery, etc.) on equipment and vehicles; reports problems and malfunctions to supervisor.
- Performs housekeeping or maintenance tasks in the Warehouse and related property as required or assigned.
- Informs supervisor or material, tool, supply or equipment needs; maintains and submits records and reports as required.
- Complies with safety rules and regulations.
- Utilizes and maintains equipment and material in a responsible and reliable manner.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Some knowledge of warehouse and storage methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of principles for providing good customer service.
- Ability to operate and drive forklift and delivery vehicles.
- Ability to perform heavy manual work in lifting and moving materials, food, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow directions and instructions.
- Ability to work with standard power tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and endurance, sometimes under variable and frequently adverse weather conditions and/or building temperatures.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel in other departments, divisions, and establishments.
- Skill in the set-up, adjustment and use of the tools and equipment of the trade and in their care and maintenance.
Education, Training and Experience:
- High school graduation or GED certificate is required.
- Some experience in warehouse and delivery work is highly desired.
Certificate and License Requirements:
- Must have a valid Georgia Commercial Class B CDL drivers’ license and be a qualified vehicle operator.
- Must have (or obtain after employment) forklift certification.
SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:
- 200 day contract year; hours per day vary.
- Salary Range: Grade 27 (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). Up to ten years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.

Physical Demands:
Performs medium to heavy work that involves frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, stretching, or lifting and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis; requires skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs for tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
