The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year. 

 

Summary Description of Classification:

As a member of the Technology Services team, the Systems Administrator (SA) shall work closely with the division’s technicians, engineers and administrators. The Systems Administrator will be primarily accountable for implementing, maintaining, and supporting district-wide instructional, operational, and productivity applications, both client or cloud-based. The Systems Administrator may also serve in project leadership roles that involve the WAN infrastructure, Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365, security and server maintenance, as well as any other key solutions that are vital to the successful 24/7 operation of the BCSD network. The Systems Administrator may also perform light programming (usually scripting, which involves writing programs to automate tasks).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Communicate and coordinate schedules and timelines both internally and with vendors.
  2. Provide effective customer support to all Bibb County School District employees.
  3. Possess a working knowledge of the latest Windows Operating Systems and Mac OS.
  4. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve technology hardware and software problems.
  5. Assist network technicians with projects and school support.
  6. Install, repair, maintain, and upgrade PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals, telephones, faxes, interactive panels, audio/video equipment, conferencing equipment and any other necessary equipment at all BCSD locations.
  7. Complete assigned trouble tickets in a timely manner and keep the number of open tickets within acceptable limits.
  8. Create and manage distribution groups, user accounts for email, and voice-mail.
  9. Create and update group policies in Active Directory.  
  10. Maintain databases for all applications including but not limited to: VOIP phones, helpdesk, account automation, endpoint management, district applications, department specialty software, inventory applications, etc...
  11. Build, update and deploy images to district devices.
  12. Create, maintain and distribute software packages utilizing the district’s endpoint management solution.
  13. Implement, manage and monitor district level functions to include updates, backups and antivirus.
  14. Install, monitor and maintain district servers to include domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, video storage, NDVRs and application related servers.
  15. Maintain and support district video/streaming equipment to include but not limited to kiosk, encoders, Channel 17.
  16. Build, maintain and support a virtual environment to include servers and VDI devices.
  17. Create and maintain technical documentation for district reporting and data analysis.
  18. All other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

  1. Bachelors or Associate degree in a technology or business-related field, i.e. Information Systems, Networking, Computer Science or Management Information Systems (MIS) or equivalent training and experience.
  2. Knowledge of business and technology functions is very important, as is the ability to communicate with employees within the organization in both technical and non-technical roles. System administrator should have knowledge and/or experience with project management.

Certificate and License Requirements:  A+ Certification, Network + Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional and/or other industry certifications are preferred.

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:

  1. 239 day contract year; 8 hours per day
  2. Salary Range: Grade 66 $51,776.96 - $58,335.12 annually (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience).  Up to ten years allowed.  The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
