The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for Truck Driver/Material Handling Specialist. 

 

 

Job Summary:
Performs tasks related to driving, loading, unloading, receipt, and delivery of food, materials, supplies and equipment for the School Nutrition Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Drives, loads, and unloads vehicles of various weights and types to and from appropriate delivery and storage points.
  2. Handles food, supplies, materials and equipment for the School Nutrition Department; makes deliveries to the correct locations; assists in keeping facilities and vehicles in proper order.
  3. Inspects vehicles for proper operating condition in accordance to federal, state, and district policies and guidelines.
  4. Checks freight being loaded and unloaded for agreement with shipping documents; records delivery discrepancies and damaged items.
  5. Assists with packing food carts; places cart, equipment, supplies, etc. on trucks for delivery; removes carts from trucks; assists with unpacking as necessary.
  6. Operates loading, storing and other equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, tail lifts, dollies, lift levers, etc. in the loading, unloading of food, supplies, equipment, etc.
  7. Performs routing and simple maintenance tasks such as checking the oil, water, gas, battery, etc. on equipment and vehicles; reports problems and malfunctions to supervisor.
  8. Records deliveries and routes; maintains and submits reports as required.
  9. Complies with safety rules and regulations.
  10. Utilizes and maintains equipment and material in a responsible and reliable manner.
  11. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

  1. High school graduation or GED certificate is required.
  2. Some experience in warehouse and delivery work is highly desired.

Certificate and License Requirements:  Must have a valid Georgia Commercial Class B CDL drivers’ license and be a qualified vehicle operator.

Salary/Terms/Benefits:

  1. 239 day contract year; 8 hours per day
  2. Salary Range: Grade 30 (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience).  Up to ten years allowed.  The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
