Title: School-Based Mental Health Coordinator (Clinical Supervisor) – Grant Funded

Job Summary:

The SBMH Clinical Supervisor will manage the delivery of high-quality school-based mental health services throughout the school district. The Clinical Supervisor maintains a small caseload of students with significant mental health concerns and primarily provides clinical supervision to a team of approximately eight employees which includes social workers and mental health counselors who serve students and families within assigned “clusters” of schools.

 

Minimum Quali?cations

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

· Strong understanding of associated laws, including HIPAA, IDEA, FERPA, Georgia State codes related to social work, student support services, and mental health.

· Strong understanding of social work or clinical counseling practice, ethics, and standards.

· Expertise in child development, psychopathology, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity, and family systems.

· Ability to effectively direct, plan, implement, and evaluate programs in a school-based environment.

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead people and provide direction.

· Ability to interpret and enforce policy and procedures.

· Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.

· Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas and experience.

· Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes.

· Must be dependable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.

· Ability to train and promote skills development among school-based mental health program staff.

· Communicates in a manner that is clear, concise and facilitates the organizations goals, both orally and written. Clearly establishes and communicates goals and accountabilities.

· Ability to utilize data and other information with direct reports to set targets and evaluate quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and/or compliance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

While speci?c duties may vary according to the needs of the grant, the duties of the SBMH Coordinator shall be those assigned to him/her by the SBMH Project Director, which may include the following:

 

1. Provides programmatic guidance and clinical supervision to master’s level social workers and clinical mental health counselors.

2. Supervises staff, monitoring and coaching productivity and performance measure progress.

3. Ensures that all individual and group mental health services are provided in a timely and customer-oriented manner.

4. Trains staff in (and ensures the use of) evidence-based strategies within the SBMH program and services.

5. Works closely with the Project Director to establish program goals, strategies and priorities; strives for outcomes and department efficiency.

6. Conducts staff performance evaluations and ensures all job descriptions and evaluations are competency- and skill-based.

7. Builds and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment.

8. Assists the Project Director with interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining and discharging of employees (as appropriate).

9. Recommends, creates, evaluates and participates in staff development; Trains, motivates and promotes skills development among staff.

10. Facilitates communication within the unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.

11. Facilitates weekly SBMH Team meetings. Conducts ongoing individual meetings and case conferences with staff.

12. Monitors services for compliance and quality assurance. Evaluates, facilitates and monitors records of student services within web-based data system.

13. Participates in and supports internal quality and compliance audits and associated corrective actions necessary to bring services or actions into compliance.

14. Works in partnership with Project Director to promptly address any external audit findings requiring corrective action.

15. Communicates and trains staff regarding changes in policies and procedures pertaining to quality and grant compliance.

16. Makes recommendations for policy/procedure development and/or revision and advocates for changes as appropriate.

17. Ensures uniform interpretation of program policy and procedures.

18. Develops innovative approaches to address problems and drive continuous improvement within the program and processes; Communicates regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals and/or required results, providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when defined goals and/or required results are not met.

19. Recognizes contributions and celebrates accomplishments.

 

Education, Training and Experience:

1. Completion of a master’s degree in social work (MSW) and a minimum of six years’ experience managing professional level staff.

2. Fully licensed master’s level social worker (LCSW). LPCs and LMFTs with adequate experience and supervisory credentials may also be considered.

3. Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) or Clinical Supervision Certified; or plans to acquire the specified training and credential within 1 year of employment.

4. Work experience gained through education and certification/license requirements.

5. Experience working with a diverse student population.

 

  

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:

 

1. 215-day work year.

2. Salary based on certi?cation and experience; placement on the Georgia Annual Salary Schedule and position supplement(s). (Maximum salary limits may be set by the grant and will be observed.)
