SUBSTITUTE NUTRITION CASHIER - (WORKS ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS ONLY).

 

Job Summary:
Receives and records all student, staff, and visitor meal account transactions.  Operates point of sale terminals, computers, tablets and/or other equipment during meals to identify reimbursable meals and input data on meal counts.  Receives and processes cash receipts and payment for a school’s nutrition center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Records student and adult meals and food served; documents appropriate records regarding meals and food served.
  2. Collects money from adults and students in payment for meals and food items; operates a cash drawer; counts cash received; issues receipts as necessary; counts and balances daily cash received.
  3. Inputs data involving meals and food served; reviews and analyzes all meals served and verifies eligibility for being reimbursable.
  4. Assists students and staff with ID numbers and data input.
  5. Reviews data input and reconciles for accuracy and completion.
  6. Assists with maintenance of student nutrition records database; prepares reports, lists, and rosters as necessary.
  7. Cleans, cuts, and cooks various types of food including meats, pastas, sauces, vegetables, breads, desserts.
  8. Performs set up activities such as retrieving stock, gathering ingredients and setting up equipment.
  9. Performs food preparation activities such as assembling recipe/menu items, washing and cutting fruit, vegetables, meats, opening canned goods, mixing ingredients. 
  10. Cooks and prepares according to menus or instructions.
  11. Performs tasks related to serving food, stocking salad bars, serving lines, milk and juice containers, etc.;  fills serving trays, measures and monitors quantities served to ensure appropriate and sufficient amounts, maintains appropriate food temperatures.
  12. Washes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment; wipes and washes equipment and surfaces as necessary to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work environment.
  13. Sweeps, mops and cleans floors, walls, ceilings and other work areas as required.
  14. Performs closing activities such as returning food to stock, refrigerating or freezing foods, storing leftovers, dismantling and putting away equipment, dishes, utensils, etc.
  15. Adheres to policies and procedures and all applicable regulatory standards governing food handling and preparation in large institutions.
  16. Works collaboratively with other staff to ensure food is prepared and delivered in adherence to established schedules, menus and timelines.
  17. Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.  High school diploma or GED is desired.
   

SALARY:
$10.00 per hour (work on an "as -need and as-called"  basis).
